SSE, Department of Information Technology - Technical Assistant II

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Technology Delivery, this position works with the PC Support Specialists in assisting with providing technical support to the University's faculty, staff, and students. This position will assist in providing tier 1 and 2 support, identifying, tracking, escalating, and resolving customer problems as they relate to software and hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and IP phones. This position is only available for the summer.




Essential Functions

  • Work closely with Technology Delivery full-time staff to learn and apply our policies and procedures for providing tier 1 and 2 technical support and services to the university.

  •  Provide daily technical support (trouble-shoot hardware/software issues, image/prepare computers for various usage needs, update software). 

  •  Maintain student print stations and laptop kiosks (trouble-shoot issues on printers and laptops, clear paper jams, fill paper, change toner). 

  •  Assist with decommissioning equipment (perform secure wiping of data, organize equipment for storage, recycling, donating, lease returns, etc.). 




Qualifications/Requirements

  • Computer Science, Information Technology or related majors preferred.

  • Barry University student who has been awarded Federal Work-Study funding for the current academic year

  • Basic computer literacy (CAT 101 or 102 preferred).

  • Ability to perform simple office tasks (photocopy, fax, etc.).

  • Must be a punctual, dependable, courteous, and responsible team player.

  • Must adhere to management guidelines and procedures.
