Job Summary

Under general supervision, this SRA I will be responsible for biochemical and molecular biology experiments, cell culture, maintenance and genotyping of the mouse colony, and general lab maintenance and safety training.

The focus of the McAllister lab is to determine the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying synapse formation and elimination in the brain during development and in disease. We also study mouse models of autism and schizophrenia, with a focus on the role of immune molecules in the brain in these disorders. We are looking to hire an SRA I to support our research. Under general supervision, this SRA I will be responsible for biochemical and molecular biology experiments, cell culture, generating and titering viral vectors maintenance and genotyping of the mouse colony, and general lab maintenance and safety training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Experience with basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques

·       Experience with mouse colony maintenance and genotyping.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail

·       Working knowledge of PC operating system, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, google sheets and google docs.

·       Effective interpersonal communication skills to maintain an effective, positive, and cooperative relationship with staff, students, faculty, co-workers, public and outside contractors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       B.S. or B.A. Degree.

·       Experience with western blotting and co-immunoprecipitation.

·       Experience with subcloning.

·       Experience with cell culture.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of UC Davis safety regulations, reporting requirements, and record keeping.
