Job Overview

The Transfer Center, housed in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, is seeking to hire a Transfer Advisor who will be responsible for Transfer recruitment and prospective student advising within an assigned territory for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This position will report to the Assistant Director of the Transfer Center. Essential Functions
  • Provide academic advising to prospective transfer students to facilitate their enrollment process in alignment with their educational and career goals.
  • Ensure accurate advice and quality support, contributing to persistence and a positive student experience.
  • Evaluate student needs and support students through enrollment processes (e.g. admissions, advising, orientation, registration).
  • Evaluate applications for transfer admission and make admission decisions using many pieces of information.
  • Accuracy and consistency will be needed to ensure the university is properly aligned to reach various enrollment goals.
  • Serve and manage a designated transfer student population to ensure the university reaches various transfer enrollment goals while being fiscally responsible.
  • Serve as a primary resource for designated community college contacts.
  • Develop and execute initiatives that best serve designated student populations and community college contacts.
  • Make data-driven decisions to coordinate and execute travel within that area to community colleges.
  • Travel during key time periods, occasional evenings/weekends to effectively perform responsibilities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training to maintain up-to-date knowledge about advising practices, policies, technologies, and student success needs at the university and in higher education.
  • Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain records and prepare reports as required; generate reports and assist in analyzing and interpreting data for future planning and evaluation.
  • Train new unit staff on key student service functions.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.  

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
