The primary responsibility of this position is to directly support prospective and current graduate students and alumni. The individual in this position has responsibility to support and assist with graduate recruitment, retention, and graduation and to help build a mutually supportive and nurturing environment in which all students feel welcomed and valued in the School of Computer Science.
Job Duties
- Present the public face of the School in written and oral communication both in person and online with particular emphasis on our graduate programs.
- Coordinate academic affairs of graduate CS students including collecting and maintaining data/records and preparing reports, monitoring progress, and addressing issues that arise.
- Assist potential, prospective, and current graduate students through support activities for recruitment, visitation, orientation, advising, enrollment, scholarship/awards, education, mentorship, retention, degree completion, and employment.
- Address faculty needs as they relate to graduate curriculum, policies, and student progress.
- Provide general office and clerical support, receive incoming phone calls and departmental emails; manage mail and package delivery; provide back-up support for departmental activity as needed.
- Coordinates schedules or rotations for students and/or medical residents within or outside the college or department.
- Assist the school on assessment activities related to grad program outcomes.
- Serve as the staff liaison to the Graduate College as it pertains to student affairs and graduate student college policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team to accomplish department goals.

Job Requirements
---
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED, AND:
- 12 months of office or clerical experience
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to build rapport quickly with director, staff, faculty, and students
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent computer literacy skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Fundamental mathematical skills and knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Initiative and ability to start and complete projects with minimum direction
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Must be able to supervise multiple student employees and to communicate directions and expectations effectively
- General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, and mail
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Ability to deal with regular pressure to meet productivity standards; frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; ability to engage in repetitive motions, and to grasp objects with fingers and hands; speak, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; and see, including color, depth perception, and clarity.
- May be required to bend, lift, stoop, carry, walk, climb stairs, and be exposed to temperature changes. May be required to sit for sustained periods at a computer.
Departmental Preferences:
- Knowledge of advising, curriculum structure, and student success factors.

- May supervise student employees
