Summary

This position is responsible for the coordination of the daily operation in the college and department office. Specific duties assigned include support of the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies with graduate student admissions, enrollment, student progress reporting, and support of the departments of Music Education (MUED) and Musicology/Composition/Theory (MUCT). Requires multi-tasking of important duties and an organized person to handle same.


Essential Functions

  • Support Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies with prospective student applications, admissions, matriculation, and graduate assistant contracts. 
  • Liaison with Graduate College staff concerning graduate student support and progress reporting. 
  • Use CSS PeopleSoft software to register students, assign instructors to classes, confirm registration, print rosters. Process schedule change and student record forms.
  • Use Slate software for graduate student admissions, scheduling auditions, and communications.
  • Assist department chairs and associate dean with routine and non-routine administrative tasks, including but not limited to query reports, faculty evaluation forms, pre-requisite checks, student registrations, correspondence, departmental purchases, filing, and general clerical duties.  
  • Answer telephone and greet visitors. 
  • Provide requested information or materials, direct calls to appropriate individuals/areas and take messages.
  • Compose and prepare typed copy using MS Office/Excel to produce correspondence, reports, and programs; proof copy and make corrections.


Minimum Qualifications

The following Experience is required:

  • One year related experience required

The following Education is required:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Ability to draft office correspondence
