Sr. Project Manager (Hybrid)

The mission of the Office of Facilities Planning and Management (OFPM) in the School of Medicine is to plan for and manage the facilities needs of the School of Medicine community in the areas of facilities operations, capital planning and budgeting, projects from programming through occupancy, space inventory, and facility assets.

In the pursuit of this mission, the Project Management team seeks a knowledgeable Senior Project Manager to manage projects and/or programs undertaken by an organization or division in a manner that ensures their alignment with the university's strategic objectives. The Senior Project Manager defines a projects scope, team, budget, capital accounts, and schedule. In the School of Medicine specifically, this includes managing the implementation of dynamic scientific requirements by coordinating installation of complex scientific equipment with stringent technical building system requirements. Work includes overseeing the permitting process, negotiating contracts, coordinating technical reviews, and scheduling shutdowns and inspections. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate experience successfully managing large and complex projects, with the greatest technical challenges and highest risk. This position will be based in Stanford Research Park. Please include a resume and a cover letter for consideration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or similar field preferred

  • 10+ years of design management and /or construction experience with implementing complex and technical projects, preferably in a university or research setting.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems and sub-systems, with an emphasis on sustainability.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholder groups on complex projects.
    • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience working in an academic setting that includes multiple buildings and facilities, Stanford experience a plus, HCAI experience a plus.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities.
  • PMP Certificate preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, which include written and oral presentations and working with new and emerging technologies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten plus years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
  • Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.
  • Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk based computer tasks and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds or more.
  • Ability to maintain a valid non-commercial California Driver's license.
  • Auditory acuity with ability to hear horns and bells.
  • Visual acuity with ability to determine colors for finishes.
  • Ability to climb scaffolding, ladders, stairs etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May work in active laboratories or outdoor environments.
  • May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, allergens/biohazards/chemicals /asbestos, or heavy metals or work on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft.
  • May drive vehicle day and night.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments, and dress for clean rooms.
  • May work extended hours, evenings and weekends.

The expected pay range for this position is $169,000 to $227,000 per annum.
