Sr. Program Manager

The Senior Program Manager, Student Success, plays a critical role in developing cross-functional and enterprise plans and driving teams toward the execution of strategic goals. This role will create a continuous cycle of improvements – driving teams toward successful delivery of key milestones. This role will focus on building a more holistic and shared view of student success and assisting leaders in creating cross functional support and coordination across all efforts. They will be a crucial resource in driving the team toward greater efficiency through process improvement and change management initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the portfolio initiatives across all team functions.

  • Provide leadership for project team to meet project goals and project milestones.

  • Support leadership in the continuous refinement of the team’s mission and on a framework that defines student success.

  • Formalize tools, communication approaches, and ways of working for the team to maximize productivity and efficiency.

  • Develop project plans for key initiatives – including maintenance and greater strategic efforts.

  • Delegate tasks among team members to ensure tracking and progress of strategic initiatives.

  • Meet with external vendors, thought partners, consultants to inform program direction.

  • Develop processes for teams to consistently and efficiently execute tactics and strategies.

  • Develop best practices to drive productivity

  • Support leaders in standing up new Strayer functions, including but not limited to, defining a new function, developing a pitch/vision, defining measures of success/key metrics, developing cross-functional teams, defining and launching pilots and critical interventions.

  • Drive the delivery of regular and consistent reporting of data from teams.

  • Develop reports that articulate findings, successes, and opportunities to key stakeholders across the university.

  • Coordinate and facilitate professional development sessions for team

  • Communicate and help to celebrate team efforts and results

  • Lead meetings with employees to review team goals and strategies

  • Coordinate in-person, virtual work sessions to create focus, cross-functional alignment, and buy-in for key initiatives.

  • Create processes and approaches for team to stay connected to internal and external research and trends.

  • Monitor and report on the usage of key tools, experiences, and services that drive student success.  

Oversees key aspects of Strayer Alumni strategy:

  • Creates and is accountable for the maintenance of Strayer’s alumni website, social media, and other community platforms.

  • Establishes the requirements, milestones, and deliverables for advancing alumni efforts.

  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to define needs, scope, timeline, budget, risks, etc.

  • Facilitates internal and key stakeholder meetings.

  • Other duties as opportunities arise.

Job Skills:

  • Project Management Proven project/program management skills – defining project scope, schedules, updates, risks. 

  • Developing cross-functional project plans and tracking tools.

  • Ability to support leaders in defining objectives and measurement approach Implementing an agile approach to scoping pilot opportunities for quick implementation and testing.

  • Data and reporting.

  • Monitor projects and report on successes and risks Work with analytics partners to develop needed dashboards to track and monitor student performance.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to produce reports and dashboards that succinctly articulate findings and recommendations.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in project/program management, education, student success/affair.

  • Experience managing complex projects concurrently.

  • Project/program management experience   that involves cross-functional workstream.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited university or college.

Other:

  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).

  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.

  • If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
