About the Opportunity

The Senior Associate Director for Admissions Programming provides strategic direction and oversight for the daily programming and special events hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for the following audiences: prospective students admitted students, families and key stakeholders such as school counselors and individuals from community based organizations.  They will be responsible for creating an overall audience experience that is personalized, customized, innovative, creative, and industry-leading in its approach to fully engage students, families, and other stakeholders throughout the enrollment process. They will be attuned to creating and elevating programming that is appropriate for both the audience and the visitor's specific stage of the enrollment process. The Senior Associate Director will be tasked with both staying abreast of industry trends—especially those in admissions programming—and with regular benchmarking against peer institutions to ensure that Northeastern's visitor experience is differentiated and distinctive.  The Senior Associate Director will work to ensure that the state-of-the-art University Visitor Center continues to evolve and leverages the most current technologies to produce an impactful visit experience that builds audience affinity with the institution with each interaction. 

  

The individual in this role will manage and facilitate collaboration amongst a team of three Associate Directors, whose work pertains to student engagement, visitor services and admissions events. Under the Senior Associate Director's leadership and strategic vision, this team will train all staff and students who participate in campus programming, oversee the University Visitor Center and its programming, coordinate the visit experience for prospective and admitted students, design, and plan all on-campus and off-campus events, and collaborate with the individual colleges at Northeastern on their prospective and admitted student events. They are responsible for strategic decision-making and continuous assessment of programming efficacy and delivery. They will collaborate with college leadership, colleagues in Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, campus stakeholders, and Undergraduate Admissions Marketing to design and implement programming for prospective and admitted students that highlights the unique attributes of Northeastern University. The Senior Associate Director will have excellent presentation skills and may be called upon to present on-campus or at off-campus University events, representing the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 

  

Overall, the incumbent will be engaged in long-term planning, evaluation, and programming strategy as well as resource assessment and management. The Senior Associate Director serves on the office management team and assists in developing and implementing office policies and procedures. The position serves on campus-wide committees and represents the University to prospective students, families, and secondary school counselors. The role chairs the university-wide Yield Strategies committee.

 

The position also actively contributes to the office welfare by working collaboratively with managers in the unit to achieve institutional enrollment goals. As a member of the undergraduate admissions team, the Senior Associate Director will manage a recruitment territory and review applications for admission. The role also manages several designated tasks/processes, including, but not limited to the enrollment process for Northeastern faculty/staff dependents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters' degree preferred, plus 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in college admission, higher education, or a related field. 
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal and leadership skills, with a demonstrated commitment to staff development. 
  • Demonstrated skill in creative thinking and problem solving. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Possesses emotional intelligence and professional maturity. 
  • Experience in developing efficient, effective policies and systems to manage high volume without sacrificing the quality of process or outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret enrollment research and make relevant application to strategic planning.
  • Experience working with diverse populations. 
  • Proven understanding of technical systems. 
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and service focused. 
  • Diplomatic in managing relationships with stakeholders and partners. 
  • Knowledge of higher education issues related to recruitment, admission, and enrollment of students.
