The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures seeks a Sr. Academic Program Coordinator to organize, coordinate, and support all aspects of the department's graduate and undergraduate academic programs as well as assist and collaborate with faculty and staff.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate graduate student admissions, recruitment, and campus visits.
  • Support, facilitate, and track graduate student progress from matriculation to graduation.
  • Process each semester Departmental Graduate Aid (DGA) working with Student Accounts.
  • Schedule all graduate examinations and dissertation defenses.
  • Update yearly in keeping with the university's legal guidance in the Graduate Student Handbook.
  • Maintain graduate file archive and compile historical statistics about program graduates.
  • Represent the Department at meetings of the Graduate Board, Graduate Admissions, and KSAS Registrar's Office.
  • Assist graduate conference planning in collaboration with lead student organizers and administrative staff.
  • Upload and schedule in collaboration with Department faculty and the Registrar all Fall, Spring, Intersession, and summer undergraduate and graduate classes.
  • Perform catalog updates to undergraduate and graduate program requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule Fall Orientation programming.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff on shared event calendar.
  • Other related duties essential to the academic mission of the Department.

  • Efficient workflow organization and time management.
  • Experience updating websites and entering data with high accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and SharePoint.


Physical Requirements 

  • Able to lift general office supplies (20 pounds)

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. Bachelor's degreepreferred.
  • Five years progressively responsible administrative/academic experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in a humanities academic setting is strongly preferred.

Role/Level/Range: ATO 37.5/03/OF  
Starting Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.75 - $36.50 HRLY (Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt 
Location: Hybrid/Homewood Campus
