Sports Performance Graduate Assistant

The Sports Performance Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting the Sports Performance Coordinator in running the strength and conditioning programs for all 16 sports.  Graduate Assistance are responsible for the development and administration of the strength and conditioning program for assigned sports.  They will act as liaison between the Sports Performance Interns and the Sports Performance Coordinator. 

Essential Functions

• Assist in the administration of assessments, testing and the strength and conditioning programs for 15 sports. Knowledge of NCAA rules.

• Develop and administration of the strength and conditioning programs for sports assigned to them by the Sports Performance Coordinator.

• Engage in meetings within the unit with hands-on and discussions about various topics within strength and conditioning.

• Act as liaison between the Sports Performance Interns and the Sports Performance Coordinator.

• Help in the maintenance and cleanliness of the Barry University Weight Room.

• Create and Implement strength and conditioning programs for all seasons. 

• Provide Nutrition recommendations, help with recovery and flexibility. 

• Work and develop relationships with sport coaches and athletic trainers for team and individual player needs.

• Conduct warm ups, and support teams at local competitions.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Be a current BarryU Graduate student in any field of study.

• Required to be a certified strength and conditioning specialist by either Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

• Relevant experience as a strength and conditioning coach/intern.

• Ability to create and modify strength and conditioning programs.

• Must remain full-time and in good academic standing throughout term as graduate assistant.
