Job Description:


This IFO position is a fixed term 9 month full-time and meets the needs and demands in Speech, Hearing and Rehabilitation Services in teaching, advising and clinical education in both undergraduate and graduate Communication Sciences and Disorders programs.
  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.

  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.

  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.

  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement ) .

  • This position will advise undergraduate majors.

  • This position will supervise/advise graduate students.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders Program.

Required Qualifications:


  • Master's degree and/or relevant tested experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related area. (conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 1, 2024.)

  • Candidate should have a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and have or be eligible for licensure as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Minnesota (through the Minnesota Department of Health).

  • Experience in teaching university-level classes or related teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated preparation to teach, advise, supervise, mentor, and support a wide variety of students in a clinical setting and for applied courses at the graduate level, such as Appraisal and Diagnosis, Clinical Methods in Speech-Language Pathology, Comprehensive Assessment Clinic, Phonetics.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach using active learning, innovative ways to support learning, and technology in the classroom and/or online course delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively with faculty and staff in a collegial and cooperative manner.

  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in accreditation, program review, and/ or assessment processes and a commitment to continued professional development and professional service.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with business, education and/or community organizations.

  • Demonstrate research, creative or scholarly interests that will advance the mission and goals of the Speech, Hearing and Rehabilitation Services department at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
