Summary:

The Software Engineer/Report Developer is a member of the Information Services team within the Department of Institutional Advancement (IA) and reports directly to the Sr. Lead Software Engineer. This role works collaboratively with team members to provide the data that supports the department’s fundraising and engagement efforts.  The Software Engineer/Report Developer creates, maintains, and delivers reports and dashboards in response to user requests. This position will work with a variety of functional and information service roles in the Advancement Collaboration Center, as well as senior leadership. The individual must possess strong communication and analytical skills, the ability to evaluate business requirements and be able to create reports and dashboards using a variety of tools. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least four years of technical experience in data and dashboard management. Demonstrated experience with report development skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Customer service orientation

*Strong working knowledge of SQL in a relational database environment (either Oracle or MS SQL Server).

*Experience with report development tools such as Cognos, Tableau, and/or Power BI.

*Strong problem solving and debugging skills in a program development environment.

*Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.

*Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express concepts in business terms, including the ability to explain data.

*Ability to work in a team environment

*Strong desire and ability to learn quickly.

Preferred:

*Exposure to a data modeling and data warehousing environment.

*Experience with Business Intelligence/Data Driven reporting

*Banner ODS/EDW or other Ellucian analytical products.

*Experience working in Higher Education.

*System Administration experience with reporting tools.

*Experience in Object Oriented Programming – Java, .NET or Python.

*Experience in web development (JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, Web Services, etc.).

This position requires a background check.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
