Job Summary:

As a software developer, you will be an integral part of WCER's Research IT team, which is a dynamic group of people who provide end user support, database and network administration, server management, software development, and technical project management. We work collaboratively in a hybrid environment to meet the technology needs of the projects in the center and support the business processes within WCER.
In this role, the Software Developer will do the following:
- Design, develop, and maintain large and complex applications for education research
- Troubleshoot issues and make fixes
- Consult with faculty and research staff regarding their research needs
- Recommend the appropriate technologies, software, and database designs for funded research-specific education projects
- Document key technical information for the development team
- Work in an agile environment on multiple projects

Qualifications:

Required:
- Experience developing web applications using one or more technologies (including but not limited to) RESTful web API's implemented in C#, ASP.MVC, PHP, and Microsoft Entity Framework.
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies/frameworks: JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, AngularJS, Angular, or React.
- Experience interfacing with one or more databases such as MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB/NoSQL, or Oracle.
- Proven ability to interface with customers (faculty, researchers, administrative staff), as well as technical personnel.
- Thorough knowledge of secure coding practices.
Preferred:
- Experience with enterprise architecture and software design.
- Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
- Experience with agile software methodologies.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Currently, employees at the Wisconsin Center for Education Researcher (WCER) work in a hybrid environment, partially onsite in Madison, WI, and partially remote. The balance of face-to-face and remote work schedule for this position will be discussed at the time of hire.
