Job Description

Summary of Position

Primary interface/liaison between MSW students and the University to ensure successful progress through the MSW program and to minimize student attrition. Establish positive, effective relationships and work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders (staff, faculty, students, and community members). Collaborate with MSW Director and other department members on program management, program planning, development projects, and achievement of program goals. Use department policies as guide for judgments in decision making and consult with MSW Director and/or Social Work Chair as warranted.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with graduate admissions and program directors on intake admission/matriculation efforts for newly admitted education graduate students.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Chair to implement department wide policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Maintain regular communication with graduate students, e.g. registration, deadlines, etc., and with alumni for the purpose of outreach and engagement.
  • Use multiple modes of communication with students, faculty, and staff regarding procedures and requirements. A commitment to equity and social justice-oriented workplace, educational and community environments.
  • Serve as academic advisor to graduate students.
  • Plan and coordinate graduate program events, such as guest speakers, faculty led lectures, or special program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the PR department to issue program specific press releases and press memos and website content manager.
  • Inform graduate education marketing efforts by assisting admissions with information sessions, fairs and events; and reviewing external communication.
  • Enter, manage, and utilize department and student data in the student information system/degree audit/campus CRMs, track registration information, and assist Graduate Director with enrollment management.
  • Serve as Augsburg MSW program liaison to MSW students. Provide problem-solving on a variety of issues affecting MSW students; produce a variety of written communications and official program documents; and provide consultation and other info sharing with students to ensure successful progress through MSW program and to minimize attrition.
  • Coordinate matriculation of new MSW students; including establishing positive relationships, providing ongoing information/consultation to new students, and providing mentorship/guidance about completion of admission conditions.
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct New Student Orientation with MSW Director, department and University staff.
  • Manage MSW enrollment and program data. Collect and analyze a variety of student data and produce both regular and ad hoc reports on enrollment totals, profiles, and projections to allow analysis of enrollment trends and evaluate progress toward program goals.
  • Create, implement, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative assessments, evaluations, and research studies for the department and the Council on Social Work Education.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Actively collaborate with the graduate program director, department chair, and other faculty and staff to communicate program related information and updates.
  • Work closely with other graduate program coordinators to develop uniform policies and practices, where applicable.
  • Monitor, prepare, verify, and sign clinical clock hours and other necessary form for the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
  • Coordinate MSW student course registration.  Plan, produce and distribute MSW course registration materials and monitor registration progress to ensure proper course sequencing and equitable section sizes.
  • Provide on-going review of MSW student academic progress, and changes in enrollment status to allow timely intervention and record updates.
  • Coordinate and process graduation applications. Coordinate with Event Services and Registrar on a variety of activities related to commencement ceremonies.
  • Execute responsibilities as assigned through committee work, which includes scheduling meetings, developing and distributing agendas, recording minutes, facilitating correspondence, and completing related project duties.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience working in an Education, Communication, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of higher education and graduate student advising.
  • Experience working with student records and correspondence.
