Position Summary
The social media coordinator assists with planning, implementation, monitoring and measurement in support of the Department of Ophthalmology social media strategy, in order to increase brand awareness, build audience and drive engagement across university channels.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides tactical support for overall social media efforts, including daily maintenance of university social media channels. This may include writing, producing photo or video and other creative approaches, working independently or in partnership with other staff.
  • Monitors university/department social media channels for issues and trends, listening particularly for opportunities to proactively engage with our audiences.
  • Contributes to the execution of social media campaigns in support of overall strategic content goals.
  • Provides support for events, opportunities and campaigns that aim to drive engagement and increase our audience on social media channels. Assists with coordination of production for Facebook Live and other remote opportunities.
  • Utilizes social media tools to contribute to monthly measurement and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • This position is hybrid with some travel required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate should be comfortable with technology, including the use of social media publishing and measurement software and other tools to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google-based communications tools and WordPress.
  • Proven ability to foster productive working relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to think outside of the box and develop creative solutions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing or related field, and at least two years of relevant experience.

Salary Range
$44,700.00 - $73,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
