Position Summary
This position is located with the Epidemiology Research Team in the UNC School of Medicine Department of Radiology. The department’s mission is to: provide excellent and compassionate care to patients; educate medical students with basic imaging knowledge; train future academic and private practice radiologists; and engage in basic and clinical research. In accordance with that mission, the Epidemiology Research Team conducts clinical and population-based research on topics related to radiologic imaging. We are currently seeking a Social/Clinical Research Assistant to work on studies related to breast composition, hormones, and breast cancer. 
Primary responsibilities include:
* Recruitment and tracking of research participants, including documenting informed consent, administering questionnaires, managing biospecimen collection, and maintaining visit records 
* Abstraction of participant data from the electronic health record
* Facilitating pathology data collection (e.g., requesting tissue slides and organizing the review process)
In addition, the Research Assistant will:
* Monitor collected data for accuracy and completeness
* Maintain documentation of the study procedures 
* Develop a working knowledge of radiology and pathology terminology relevant to breast cancer research 
* Collaborate with the rest of the research team to achieve the study goals
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Valid NC driver’s license. Must be able to travel off-campus to UNC sites in Chatham and Burlington.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently, and comfortable talking with potential research participants. Experience with any of the following is also desired: data collection for clinical research or epidemiologic studies; interaction with research participants in a clinical setting; research participant recruitment; data entry using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap); electronic health records chart review.
