Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reports to Director, Small Business Development Center and is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: 
  • Counsels small business clients one-on-one in business start-up and expansion methods, plan development, record keeping and other business-related issues.
  • Analyzes client’s business and industry data in finance, marketing, management, and operations.
  • Interprets and applies government regulations to client’s business and industry.
  • Formulates client data, researches and analyzes results into business plans, marketing plans and loan proposals.
  • Advises and assists small business clients to create and/or enhance online presence through a business website and digital marketing strategies; 
  • Prepares and teaches small business-related seminars and workshops to clients and others. 
  • Supports the student success initiatives of the department; 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, vision, hearing, talking, lifting, carrying, fine dexterity, handling, climbing, and balancing; ability to drive to off campus locations. 
Minimum Qualifications:
 The minimum qualifications for this position are:
 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Marketing, Computer Science and/or a related business fields; 
  • Five (5) years of experience owning or managing a small business; 
  • Experience in accounting, finance, banking, public relations, marketing, quality control, inventory management, and/or manufacturing;
  • Advanced computer/Internet skills, including QuickBooks, web design, e-commerce and social media; 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills; 
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, project management, and time management skills;
  • Expertise in banking, finance, and/or accounting is preferred; 
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks; 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus;
  • Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution;
