Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications  for a small animal rotating intern at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC offers an internship designed to prepare interns for active careers in academia, specialty practice, or for further pursuit of a residency program.  The intern program is 53 weeks in duration, including one week of orientation.

Interns will follow specific program guidelines and will rotate through various hospital services including emergency and critical care, internal medicine, and surgery. .  Interns are expected to provide backup duties for the emergency service, along with weekend and after-hours duties. Interns participate in clinical rounds and house officer seminar, as well as various section and departmental academic programs. Attendance and participation in the seminar component of the training program is required by all Interns. 

 


Required Minimum Qualifications:

-DVM or equivalent degree.
- Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in compliance with the Controlled. Substances Registration Act will be required prior to clinical practice.
-Licensure by the State of Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine upon employment start date.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the NAVLE.

  • Demonstrated experience working in small animal specialty medicine during clinical rotations.
