Position Summary:
Accountable for the day-to-day operations of a surgical or clinical simulation laboratory. Will prepare lab sessions, perform basic repair and maintenance on medical and simulation equipment, maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and participate in activities using medical equipment and simulators.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Operate and provide technical assistance with simulation and medical related audio-video systems.
2. Provide technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation and medical equipment, as necessary.
3. Conduct ongoing maintenance of all medical and simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.
4. Set-up and take-down simulators, medical equipment, and supplies for all sessions. May participate in teaching-related activities.
5. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates. .
6. May obtain cadavers from the UT Human Structure facility, maintain records and transports to and from the laboratory and assist in preparing them.
7. Maintains the cleanliness of the facility and equipment and assists users of the facility during training sessions.
8. Maintain current knowledge of simulation and medical equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
9. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
EMT, OR Technician, ER Technician, Vet Technician, Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technician, Paramedic, LVN or Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification required. Previous experience in simulation lab is preferred.
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in technology or a health-related field or equivalent directly is required.
Minimum Experience:
A minimum of two years of related experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds routinely to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
