Job Description:

The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the simulation center. The Simulation Coordinator collaborates with the Senior Director of Simulation to plan and schedule simulation activities. The coordinator ensures adherence to program policies and current simulation best practice and safety measures. The Simulation Coordinator is expected to promote and maintain all departmental duties and responsibilities in accordance with ASPE and SSiH code of ethics and standards of best practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation center to provide support for a wide variety of simulation experiences
  • Arrange simulation center schedule/calendar in compliance with simulation center policies working to prevent scheduling conflicts
  • Act as the primary contact for scheduling events requested by entities utilizing the simulation center (e.g. COM, CDM, PsyD, GME, others as requested)
  • Coordinate workflow between departments
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff
  • Incorporate best practice and evidenced-based practices with a focus on standardization and efficiencies
  • Participate in faculty and department meetings to assist with development and implementation of simulation experiences
  • Communicate effectively to all simulation educators, administrative staff and technical support staff
  • Create a positive work environment demonstrating leadership and supervision for simulation center staff
  • Coordinate training for users of the simulation center including faculty and fellows
  • Schedule simulation center staff to support learning activities
  • Maintain concurrent memberships in appropriate professional societies
  • Participation in professional development 
  • Engage in community outreach programs
  • Network with other simulation coordinators at local/state/national level to develop and utilize best practices
  • Organize the collection of data for ongoing research or grant requirements
  • Maintain learner confidentiality
  • Facilitate center tours
  • Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with PC and Mac platforms with expertise in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn additional software programs
  • Minimum two years’ experience in office management or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful and cooperative working relationship
  • Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion
  • Must be able to create complex schedules
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Capacity to quickly learn new technology

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. business management) or combination of education/experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other equipment including items stored at various levels, including overhead
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Be able to sit or stand for up to four consecutive hours without a break
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
