Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Faculty Administration Specialist holds a key role in faculty advancement within Academic Affairs and serves as a vital member of the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) team, housed in the division of Undergraduate Education and Faculty Affairs (UEFA). They participate in initiatives and activities in support of OFA and strategic plan priorities, goals, and initiatives of the Provost. This position serves as a lead consultant and strategic business partner with college leadership as well as other academic units for implementation and management of the faculty career cycle, supporting all faculty as defined in the UNCW Faculty Handbook. The Specialist partners with Deans and academic offices, as well as the Human Resource department, the UNC Systems Office, and other agencies and universities. The Academic Faculty Program Specialist may also collaborate within UEFA on efforts to improve the faculty and undergraduate student experience at UNCW. This position provides comprehensive guidance and interpretation regarding regulation, policy, processes, and initiatives to ensure alignment with programs supporting UNCW faculty career cycle, shared governance, and State/ Federal guidelines. The Academic Faculty Program Specialist works independently, using sound judgment, diplomacy, and tact while advising and consulting with the deans’ offices, chairs, directors, and faculty. This is a customer-centric, fast-paced environment which requires work to be performed with a sense of urgency in completing day-to-day activities with a strong focus on high performance, collaboration, and innovation. This position reports to the Director of Academic Affairs Personnel Administration.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or one year of experience related to the area of assignment faculty affairs, faculty compensation, recruitment and/or onboarding; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
