Description
The Service Learning Coordinator offers support with coordinating, implementing, and overseeing service-learning programs within the Westbrook College of Health Professions. This position collaborates with students, faculty, community partners, and administrative staff to expand and facilitate meaningful service experiences that meet community needs. This is a half-time position, schedule will vary and include regular evening shifts and occasional weekend obligations. Outside of these times, there will be flexibility for working business hours during the week.

Responsibilities
Programming and Support:
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of service-learning programs that align with institutional goals, academic standards, and community needs.
  • Engage with students and community partners to enhance or expand ongoing service activities.
  • Attend, support and/or provide oversight and supervision for students engaging in service activities both on and off campus.

Student Engagement:
  • Offer guidance and support to students interested in participating in service-learning activities.
  • Support orientation sessions, workshops, and informational programs to attract and prepare students for their service experiences.
  • Assist students in reflecting on their service experiences by connecting them with regular assessment, surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Establish partnerships with UNE clubs and organizations, and campus support services to promote service opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Connect with and help recruit service learning liaisons (students and faculty) from all academic programs and provide regular communication and outreach with this constituency.

Marketing and Community Relations:
  • Create and manage content to provide ongoing social media presence.
  • Design and help orchestrate marketing to recruit and attract student volunteers.
  • Promote service learning on campus by increasing visibility at events, class visits and connecting with campus initiatives.
  • Help to communicate the value of service-learning to faculty by demonstrating how they can align activities with course objectives.
  • Collaborate with new and existing community partners to assess community needs and develop service projects that address those needs effectively.

Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation, service hours, and program outcomes for reporting and assessment purposes. Follow up, collect and synthesize data as needed
  • Provide logistical management for events (catering, media, facilities requests).
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and proposals that communicate the impact and effectiveness of service-learning programs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, in a relevant field such as education, social work, community development, or a related area. Experience working in higher education, community engagement, or related fields or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capacity to work independently and consistently follow through on goals and tasks.
  • Knowledge of service-learning principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation techniques to measure the impact of service-learning programs.
  • Commitment to fostering civic engagement, social responsibility, and ethical leadership among students.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media, design and editing and other relevant software applications.
  • Willingness and motivation to learn new skills, technology and modalities.
