Posting Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer is a senior level IT position with a high-impact technical role focused on ensuring LCOM’s information technology environment is following operational requirements for security, performance, reliability, and scalability. The primary responsibility is to coordinate with engineers, software developers and systems analysts to design and implement effective solutions that meet requirements for functionality and integration with existing components. Manage development, testing and support of software and other computer systems technologies to ensure compliance with operational requirements for security, performance, reliability, and scalability. Support development and implementation of new technologies within a complex systems environment by advising on design concepts and changes, implementation strategies and deployment timelines. Support lower-level IT personnel to facilitate well-organized and efficient planning and implementation of computer systems. Create thorough documentation records of design specifications and instructional manuals to enable all computer systems personnel and end users to interact correctly and effectively with hardware and software systems.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in technology or a related field and four to five years computer networking and systems management or related experience required. Expert proficiency in the technical concepts underpinning internet-connected enterprise services required. Expertise programming in languages popular for orchestration/automation (e.g., PowerShell, KQL, SQL). Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work and manage projects in a collaborative, cross-departmental, team environment. Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills required. Demonstrated ability to evaluate risks, costs, and benefits of security measures.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating system, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Active Directory, Endpoint management systems, NetApp storage systems, VMware ESX and NSX virtualization products, Amazon Web Services highly desirable.
