Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Senior Strategist, Student Equity Initiatives works independently and leads the creation, development and implementation of equity focused initiatives and programs designed to build additional capacity to implement student success strategies university wide. The incumbent performs a full range of highly complex assignments while providing strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership and coordination to faculty, staff, and student assistants working with, and in, the Office of Student Success.

  • Designs and implements programming that fosters a sense of belonging, improves retention, and closes equity gaps across multiple student identities for students and employees.
  • Operationalizes and promotes best practices in student success programming across the CSU and provides strategic leadership on the implementation across multiple student support technology platforms.
  • Represents the AVP Student Success, the Provost, and the Division of Academic Affairs in student success related initiatives on campus and across the system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field required. Master’s or doctorate preferred.
  • Equivalent to six (6) years of full-time, progressively responsible relevant experience in a highly specialized technical/professional area.  
  • Oversight and administration of a program with supervision and/or lead experience. Experience supporting initiatives that build capacity to advance educational equity and student success, including developing culturally relevant and responsive practices, fostering a culture of cultural humility, and leading cross-divisional teams that improve student outcomes is also preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge about change management practices, allocating and managing resources, and enabling innovation for institutional transformation and to continuously improve strategies that lead to equity-centered student success practices and services.
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply expertise in the advanced theories, principles, methods and practices associated with the functional specialty, including applicable internal policies and procedures and pertinent laws and regulations, which are highly complex and require substantial judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying them; expertise in advanced operations, systems analysis and research methods and/or GAAP Accounting; individuals at this level often may have certification in a specialty area.
  • Ability and specialized skills to:  interpret and evaluate results to develop sound conclusions and recommend new or revised policies; understand problems from a broad perspective and develop strategic solutions; work with representatives from public and private entities; demonstrated consultative  and facilitation skills in working with internal and external constituent groups; interpret and integrate complex data and information to formulate appropriate courses of action; effectively present ideas and concepts in written or presentative format; oversee and provide training; demonstrate expertise in developing equity-focused student success initiatives.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: Administrative Analyst Specialist III / 1038  / 4
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $6,638 - $9,583 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $6,638 - $12,899 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Temporary position with an end date to be determined.
  • The position is currently hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remote; however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
