Senior Steam Plant Specialist I

MR08 – Starting salary dependent on candidates’ qualifications and experience

Position Details:

·        Maintains the plant in working order.

·        Examines boilers, pressure vessels, tanks to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots or defective sections so they can be repaired.

·        Repairs or replaces defective parts such as safety valves or regulators, using various types of tools and machinery.

·        Must be able to use welding and cutting torches and saws as needed to support steam plant operations.

·        Must have experience in preventative maintenance and scheduling deferred maintenance.

·        Must have the computer skills necessary to research and order spare parts and replenish the plant stock to ensure that the steam plant can operate continuously.

·        Fills in for supervisor when needed.

·        Identify the training needs of subordinates and develop instruction to meet the identified need.

·        Must be able to teach or instruct others in their duties.

 



Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·        High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of team plant maintenance or operations experience or a vocational certificate and 3 years of experience. Post-secondary education can be substituted on a 1 for 1 basis for years of experience.

·        Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License

Job Skills:  

·        Excellent mechanical ability, must be proficient in welding technologies such as metal inert gas (mig), tungsten inert gas (tig), oxyacetylene torch and plasma arc cutter.

·        Must be proficient in metal fabrication, have the ability to read blueprints, use power tools and hand tools.

·        Must have the ability to work well with others.

·        Must possess the ability to make decisions under pressure and to communicate well, both orally and in writing.

·        Must be trained in and have the ability to use proper safety equipment as required for the duties of this position.

·        Must be trained and have the ability to work in confined spaces and work from ladders or scaffolding.

·        Must have good attendance habits and be willing to work flexible schedules and overtime as required.
