Senior Star Team Member

MR06 – Starting rate dependent on candidates’ experience and qualifications

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates Campus researchers needs and implementing actions to meet those demands.
  • Assists new and existing Campus researchers by renovating their lab space, helping them get acclimated to campus, and installing their lab equipment to expedite transition process.
  • Assists existing researchers in both identifying and rectifying day-to-day problems that may arise.
  • Address the lab's needs of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC to ensure there are no interruptions to their research.
  • Implementation of system modifications necessary to meet the needs of Campus researchers.
  • Performs a wide variety of skilled (and sometimes complex) maintenances activities for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance issues are resolved along with having the capabilities to add, relocate and terminate building utilities to meet the researchers needs.
  • Collaborates with others (e.g. University administrators, faculty, and staff, contractors, vendors, and Facilities Services personnel) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or research programs.
  • Assists in the coordinating of services and activities of outside contractors as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that contracted work is completed is a safe, effective and timely manner that it meets both the University and Facilities Services standards and objectives.
  • Annually trained in General Lab Safety, in addition to identifying a wide range of potential hazards and hazard controls methods. Complete all mandatory OSHA training.
 



Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school degree (or GED) required.
  • (5) Five years of experience or trade school and experience. (Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.)
  • Must have the ability to learn and apply computer applications.
  • Must have ability and aptitude to be trained to multi-disciplined capabilities.
  • Must have the ability to climb a ladder and/or work on lift when height of task is over six (6) feet high.
  • Ability to utilize power tools.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle in Tennessee and possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance, be in good physical health and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.
  • Applicant must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Be able to work required shift.
