Department Summary
The Faculty Information Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, optimizes, and refines Faculty Information products and application technologies, including but not limited to mobile and web applications, collaboration tools, CRM products, budget/financial management products, HR applications, and other services. This department also works to optimize user experience, address digital accessibility needs, and establish the highest standards of quality assurance and release management for UCLA's administrative applications and technologies.
Position Summary

The Senior Software Developer, Faculty Information Products will design, develop, test, integrate and maintain back-end services for complex product solutions and frameworks. The Senior Software Developer will take the lead in software solutions by adhering to functional and technical requirements, evaluating information needs, and collaborating with a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders. This role will be responsible for developing clean code and conducting regular code reviews.

 

The Senior Software Developer, Faculty Information will evaluate system flow, data usage, and work processes and investigate problem areas. In this role, the Senior Software Developer will manage work activities throughout the software development lifecycle. They will collaborate with front-end developers to integrate back-end services with user interfaces and provide mentorship to junior developers. Additional responsibilities include conducting research of emerging technologies and industry practices; making recommendations regarding best practices and technologies for adoption and providing input to continual improvement activities for assigned projects.

Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

Five years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, software development, or related field. (Required) And

Advanced experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. (Required)

Significant experience (approx. 5 years) in the design and development of complex enterprise applications using Java/J2EE technologies. (Required)

Advanced experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. (Required)

Experience developing and executing complex test plans. (Required)

Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management and status reporting. (Required)

Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)

Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)

Seven or more years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, software development. (Preferred) And

Advanced knowledge and skill in secure software development, software repository skills, and software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of large-scale scope. (Required)

Advanced skill using frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, JPA, JDBC, LDAP; XML and related technologies such as JAXP, JAXB, XPath, XML schema. (Required)

Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate complex technical ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. Can relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)

Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)

Advanced organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholder types. (Required)

Advanced problem-solving skills; ability to uncover root of difficult problems and scope solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines as well as awareness of vision and strategy. Seeks information from multiple and diverse sources to inform solutions. (Required)

Thinks creatively and introduces innovations such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree Information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training. (Required)

Bachelor's Degree In one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications. (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

• This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).

  The anticipated pay range for this position is $136,980 - $150,768, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
