Job Description

The Boston College Institute of Scientific Research (ISR) seeks applicants for a part-time Research Physicist with broad background that includes theory, modeling, data analysis and interpretation.  The position will support research related to magnetosphere-ionosphere-thermosphere coupling and requires a strong background in plasma physics, wave-wave and wave-particle interactions and nonlinear processes in the upper atmosphere.

The applicant should have a strong record of independent research as evidenced by a solid publication record commensurate with their experience in the field. In addition to conducting independent research, the candidate is expected to interact with an active and growing research team at Boston College and contribute to the growth and development of junior members of the group.
Good technical writing skills and the ability to develop proposals and seek external funding for quality research projects are highly desired.

Requirements

- Applicants holding a PhD degree (or equivalent) in the physical sciences, engineering or applied mathematics are encouraged to apply.

- Experience or knowledge in one or more scientific programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Fortran, python, Matlab) is desired.

- The location for this position is Boston College in Newton, MA. US citizenship is required. This opportunity is an externally funded position.
