The Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine serves to fulfill the tripartite mission of all academic departments contributing to patient care, education, and discovery that leads to new therapeutics. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art care utilizing advanced medical technologies. The interest of the laboratory is to understand the immune system dysregulation in autoimmune diseases. Our work is funded by the NIH, Patient Advocacy Groups, large and small industry contracts and donations to the Laboratory for Myasthenia Gravis Research. To achieve that goal the laboratory is dedicated to the pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis. Our therapy development program spans preclinical programs, clinical trials, biomarker discovery, and basic research on the autoimmune process.
We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to perform research/development activities focused on interrogation of multiple -omic data sets including clinical information related to myasthenia gravis. Using a wide degree of creativity and latitude,core responsibilities of this position are to make detailed observations, analyze data and independently interpret results, with limited guidance from the Principal Investigator Working under general supervision, this position typically reports to a Principal Investigator, and may provide guidance to junior staff.
Duties include:
  • Conduct research in computational biology with a focus on analyzing molecular immunology data.
  • Utilizing various sequencing approaches, including ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and ATAC-Seq, you will analyze genome-wide distribution of chromatin modifications and DNA-binding factors, as well as global gene expression.
  • Design, develop and perform experimental assessment interrogating immune function in human samples and animal models.
  • Perform experimental methods include but are not limited to splenic cell purification, PBMC purification, flow cytometry, proliferation assay, immune-fluorescent microscopy, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and tissue assessment.
  • Perform training sessions with the staff in the equipment operation and research techniques.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Compile results and prepare experimental technical reports and documentation of outcomes.
  • This position performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 3 years of direct experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position

  • Experience in Immunology experimental methods
  • Demonstrated expertise in computational biology
  • Proficiency in R, Python, and C or C++
