Job Description Summary:
The Antibiotic Resistance Action Center (ARAC), located within the GW’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) in the School of Public Health, seeks a Senior Research Assistant to assist with data analysis, project management, and study coordination. Located in the heart of Washington D.C. on the George Washington University’s Foggy Bottom campus, the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center was founded in 2015 with a mission to preserve the utility of antibiotics for future generations through a unique combination of cutting-edge research, strategic communications, and evidence-based policy.
This position performs research, including assisting with data analysis, data management, study coordination, and report generation, and includes opportunities for writing. This position assists in analyzing primary data generated by ARAC and also through our collaborators, creates presentation materials, drafts reports, and assists in developing research proposals for grants. Projects include assisting in the analysis of antibiotic stewardship policies and interventions and human microbiome analysis. Additional tasks include maintenance of study documents, coordinating study logistics and processes, assistance with data quality procedures, and interaction with a global network of collaborators. The position assists in evaluating and carrying out research methods, procedures, and techniques based on established objectives. The Center is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and collaborative individual for the position of Senior Research Assistant. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to advance the Center’s mission.
The position provides an opportunity to:
  • Support laboratory scientists and epidemiologists with research, data management, and data analysis.
  • Coordinate studies, including methods development, logistics, and data collection systems.
  • Assist in the conduct of data cleaning and analysis on large datasets.
  • Assist with the management and analysis of data using R, SAS, or other software packages.
  • Assist with study documents, regulatory documents, and study coordination.
  • Contribute to report results for publication in peer-reviewed and technical journals.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with research and data management/data analysis.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms.
  • Knowledge regarding antibiotic stewardship and antibiotic resistance.
  • Experience disseminating research findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Understanding the need for research rigor and strict attention to detail and timelines is essential.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment, possess strong organizational skills and troubleshoot/trace unexpected obstacles.
Typical Hiring Range Commensurate with Experience.
