Senior Program Coordinator of BMS Specialized Programs

Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Senior Program Coordinator of BMS Specialized Programs for the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Graduate Program is responsible for the year-long coordination of several educational programs coordinated by and overseen by the BMS Program. Interfacing with administrators, faculty, course directors, students and prospective students, this position will provide administrative support for the BMS Master’s programs, Certificate programs, Medical Student Research programs, and Undergraduate Research programs. The Sr. Program Coordinator will work closely with department master’s/certificate program coordinators, and support school master’s/certificate programs by providing recruitment and admissions support to the individual programs and providing tracking of program outcomes. The Sr. Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director to coordinate Medical Student Research opportunities. The Coordinator will work closely with faculty and administrators in the SOM Office of Medical Education to ensure LCME standards are met. The Coordinator will also support baccalaureate seeking students research experiences in the SOM. Additionally, the Coordinator will work closely with other departments to successfully coordinate new and existing programs and will assist with general BMS Student Affairs duties. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrates and desires a team approach to work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with data management, with a strong ability to use and understand data collected in spreadsheets and similar systems
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), database software) and web page development/content management programs/social media 
• Ability to prioritize work assignments 
• An appreciation for the cyclical nature of admission work, and flexibility to multitask a variety of duties, projects and programs throughout the day as well as throughout the year
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty and administrators
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently on various projects under the guidance of a supervisor
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related work experience, to include database management, program coordination and website management experience 
OR 
• Master’s Degree and 2 years of related work experience to include database management, program coordination and website management experience. 
Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate and/or graduate medical education program coordination experience
• Experience in student affairs management and record keeping at the graduate level
• Experience with Banner, Courseleaf, Ilios, ExamSoft, CommonSpot (and Drupal), Canvas, Slate
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 24.
