Position Summary
The Senior Military Admissions Counselor is responsible for engaging in military recruitment activities and providing direct support to prospective students from time of initial contact through university enrollment. The Senior Military Admissions Counselor reports to the Associate Director of Transfer & Graduate Admissions.

Job Duty Name Communication and Documentation
Description of Job Duties
  • Advise prospective students on admission requirements, application procedures, and use knowledge of university and program policies for evaluation of previous credit and career interest.
  • Respond to admissions inquiries in a timely manner with continued communication through the enrollment process, utilizing all available means of communication technology including email and texting platforms.
  • Serve as a military subject matter expert and act as an advocate for the prospective student to resolve application issues and coordinate with appropriate staff throughout the admissions process through initial enrollment.
  • Track student and partner communications and enrollment results in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Review prospective student documents to provide admission decisions, conduct outreach via phone, email, and text to appropriately move students through enrollment funnels.
  • Work closely with the processing unit to update student records.

Description of Job Duties
  • Represent UIW at various internal and external meetings, community events, local businesses, military installations, and college fairs to promote and showcase educational options, both in-person and virtually within the state of Texas and out of state. Note: Travel involves single and multi-day assignments.
  • Create, assist, and participate in on-campus and off-campus events to promote, engage, and encourage prospective students toward enrollment at UIW.
  • Represent UIW at community events, college fairs to promote and display educational options.

Description of Job Duties
  • Serve as official Admissions contact for military-affiliated prospective students and applicants with UIW stakeholders such as program coordinators, the Military & Veterans Affairs Office, School of Professional Studies, and Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
  • Identify and develop potential partnerships for military-related recruitment opportunities. Perform outreach to external sources, companies, and organizations to conduct group presentations and individualized communications on the features and benefits of university programs, both in-person and virtually.
  • Collaborate with the UIW Military and Veteran Center to stay current on military and veteran education benefits and policies.

  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Required Work Experience
Three (3) years of combined professional experience as an admissions counselor at a college or university and/or serving as a military recruiter.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with or for the military.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
Work Hours
Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm with extended hours based on departmental needs to include some weekend work.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 20Ibs of recruiting materials primarily transported in a carrying case.
  • Ability to bend and squat to retrieve marketing/event materials.
  • Ability to move about and actively engage with others for an extended period of time during event preparation, execution of event, and post event activities.
  • Ability to travel extensively by vehicle or plane.
