Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Senior Manager of Facilities Maintenance provides general oversight to managing the day-to-day responsibilities of facilities maintenance activities in the Department of Residential Facilities. As part of the leadership team, the incumbent will focus on resolving critical building deficiencies, situations with unsafe or undesirable impacts on customers, and the closure of long-standing maintenance issues. The Senior Manager of Facilities Maintenance is supervised by the Associate Director of Facilities Maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree.


Experience:

  • 7 years of experience is required, preferably in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, candidates are required to have 10 years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent, facilities manager, or construction manager of complex construction jobs/facilities environments.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of utility plant systems, incredibly chilled water, high-temperature heating water, electrical and steam generation equipment, and automation systems.
  • Strong capability in program and project management oversight.
  • Knowledge of program delivery through total life cycle cost methods, including design, build, operation, and maintenance, for the term of the program.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of individuals involved in facilities management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, the ability to oversee external contractors, and the ability to find innovative ways to solve problems.
  • Effective communicator, both in oral and written form, and able to use computers for word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others.

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in facilities management.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems.
  • Experience with integrated work management software.

  • This position requires an onsite presence. May be able to work remotely one day per week or alternate schedule following a probationary period.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • This position is an essential employee related to catastrophic, weather, or other emergencies and may be required to come to campus when the University is closed.
  • This position may be required to complete Financial Disclosures with the State.

Salary Range: $87,240-$111,400

Physical Demands
  • Incumbent will be required to work from ladders, lifts, or scaffolding; to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies and/or exert force up to 70 lbs.
  • Incumbent will be required to work in hazardous or irritating environments and adverse weather or temperature conditions.
  • Incumbent will be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • Work will include repetitive motion, incumbent will be required to inspect work, involving bending, stooping, walking, and climbing.
  • Will require extended hours and overtime work due to weather emergencies, delayed openings and early closings, and system changeovers.
