Department Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) in the Ryan College of Business at UNT supports undergraduate degrees in Finance; Real Estate; Risk Management and Insurance; Financial Planning; an MS degree in Finance, an MBA degree with Finance concentration; and a Ph.D. degree in Finance. The department consists of eighteen tenure track/tenured faculty, three clinical faculty, three lecturers and three staff. Department faculty regularly publish in recognized journals in their fields. Research is actively supported through subscription to databases such as WRDS, CRSP, Compustat, Bloomberg, MSCI ESG metrics (climate change, corporate and funds), S&P Global Market Intelligence (Banking, Insurance and Real Estate modules), S&P Capital IQ, BoardEx, Thomson Reuters SDC (most modules), Refinitiv IBES Analyst Forecast Data, Morningstar Direct, Eventus and Audit Analytics.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL), at the University of North Texas, G. Brint Ryan College of Business, invites applications for the appointment of Senior Lecturer of Finance starting in August 2024. This is a continuing, full-time position. Initial term is for 3 years and subsequent renewals are possible.
Duties will be comprised of teaching and service, including the following:
  • Teach undergraduate and masters finance courses at the UNT Frisco Branch campus, UNT Denton main campus, and off-site locations (face-to-face and/or online). The standard teaching load is 4 courses a semester.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and masters students to assist with career goals.
  • Participate in department, college, and university service at the UNT Frisco Branch campus and UNT Denton main campus. Service could include advising Finance students, student groups and student teams participating in competitions, among other things.
Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree related to finance from an AACSB accredited institution with experience teaching college level finance courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A PhD degree related to finance from an AACSB accredited institution.
  • Experience teaching a variety of undergraduate and masters finance courses.
  • Record of positive teaching evaluations for university level finance courses.
  • Professional designations such as CFA or CFP.
