Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Professional Golf Management Program at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for Director of Professional Golf Management at the rank of Senior Lecturer for Academic Year 2024-2025. Applicants should hold a Master’s Degree in Business from an AACSB-accredited college or university at the time of appointment. Applicants should also hold PGA or LPGA Class A membership. The position begins August 1, 2024.
The position serves Professional Golf Management majors in the College of Business. It requires a minimum of 5 years higher education teaching and 5 years PGA or PGM administration experience. The successful candidate will recruit, advise, and mentor students; teach academic and professional development courses and seminars; manage an office staff; develop policies and procedures; and oversee budget and maintenance of financial records. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Master’s degree in Business from an AACSB-accredited college or university (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.
Experience: The position requires requires a minimum of 5 years higher education teaching and 5 years PGA or PGM administration experience.
Licensure & Certifications: • Knowledge of PGA of America's Standards and Criteria for PGA Golf Management University Programs
• Knowledge of PGA University Program curriculum
• Knowledge of steps for PGA Golf Management students to obtain PGA Class A membership.
• PGA or LPGA Class A membership.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years experience teaching at the college or university level;
• A minimum of five (5) years of PGA or PGM administration experience;
• Evidence of potential ability in academic assignment and/or professional contributions and activities
Job Duties:
- 35% - Maintain a 2/2 teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students - (Essential)
- 10% - Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students - (Essential)
- 10% - Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one’s curricular area - (Essential)
- 10% - Keep up to date with one’s field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities - (Essential)
- 5% - Develop and maintain an active research agenda - (Essential)
- 15% - Advise students in fulfilling program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments - (Essential)
- 10% - Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community - (Essential)
