: 

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Houston invites applications for a Senior Lecturer position in the newly created Construction Engineering undergraduate degree at the University of Houston at Katy. UH at Katy is a satellite campus located in Katy, Texas, 30 miles to the west of the central campus. All administration, advising, and instruction for the construction engineering program will occur at the Katy campus.

The ideal applicant for the position will be able to demonstrate the ability to function in a collaborative atmosphere with multiple stakeholders. Candidates must possess a solid commitment to engineering education and should demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

: 

Requirements include a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution or comparable institution. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in and out of the classroom. Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required.

Preferred qualifications include previous teaching and/or work experience in the areas of construction methods and materials, construction estimating and scheduling, construction contracts, and construction management and demonstrated computer literacy with construction related software. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
