The Division of Infectious Diseases is hiring a Senior Laboratory Specialist in the Nguyen-Clancy Lab . This individual will be performing genetics, protein chemistry, and in vitro and in vivo treatment experiments on pathogenic gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Suitable candidates must have experience in DNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, and library construction for sequencing. Responsibilities will include not are not limited to assisting with research experiments, including making bacterial stock, bacterial culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, gene deletion and complementation, protein extraction and quantification, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing, and assisting with clinical trial sampling processing and shipping.



Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions 

This position requires a high level of mobility, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and basic computer skills.


Physical Effort 

This position requires that the applicant travel between laboratories, campus buildings, and to sit or stand at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time.
