Department Summary
Administrative Information Support Services (AITS) is uniquely positioned to support the University’s mission by providing the primary university-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software, data and voice communications, and technology professional personnel on campus. AITS is called upon to provide computing and electronic communications resources when it can do so more effectively or more efficiently than separate units.
Position Overview
This position provides broad technology support for Administration, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Guests of the UNT at Frisco campus and the College of Applied and Collaborative Studies. Position is responsible for day-to-day operations and will serve as team lead in the absence of the Frisco IT Director. Responsibilities include assisting with developing and implementing short- and long-term strategic planning for technology support and life-cycle management for Campus and College units; managing projects and allocation of available resources; leading other technical staff; providing end-user support; installing, testing, maintaining, and documenting systems and applications.
This position will be on-site at the UNT Frisco campus and may be called on to report to other UNT locations as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and six years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
• Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
• Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
• Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
• Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience
  • Previous experience supporting, troubleshooting, and installing digital signage and automated A/V systems (e.g. Extron, Q-Sys, Biamp, Mersive, etc.)
  • A/V industry and manufacturer certifications such as Avixa CTS, Extron Control Professional, Q-Sys Level 1, Mersive, Biamp, etc.
  • Previous experience providing technology support for live events, including audio mixing, video recording, etc.
  • Prior experience with remote monitoring, management, and deployment tools such as Zabbix, Rapid7, ConnectWise, SCCM, GlobalViewer Enterprise, etc.

Monday through Thursday 9am to 7pm. Friday 9am to 1pm.

Job Duties


o
Manages day-to-day operational support of endpoints, users, servers, classrooms & meeting spaces, A/V & signage systems, etc.
o
Ensures exceptional end-user experience through hands-on technical support & training, preventative maintenance, root-cause analysis, testing & documentation, technical staff development, etc.
o
Collaborates and coordinates with Administration, department stakeholders, UNT & UNT System distributed technology teams, end-users, project managers, and 3rd-party vendors, etc. as needed to plan and execute new deployments/installations, relocations, renovations, construction projects, etc.
o
Analyzes new and existing systems, hardware, software, etc. to assist with developing strategic plans as well as short- and long-term courses of action to meet the Campus and College unit goals and objectives
o
Oversees prioritization of competing projects and allocation of available staffing and capital resources to accomplish defined University-wide goals and objectives
o
Continually monitors cybersecurity footprint of installed applications, servers, and systems to proactively mitigate vulnerabilities, and responds to detected threats appropriately
