Position Description
- Coordinate with international student groups at Harvard College. Continue developing new recruitment strategies that use social media tools and involve current students.
- Meet with international visitors to the Admissions Office, including representatives from non-governmental/community-based organizations, school administrators, university officials, and members of the press.
- Serve as main point person between the international admissions subcommittees and the virtual interviewing team.
- Represent the international admissions team at Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) gatherings, as needed. Attend conferences on behalf of the office; liaise with international admissions coordinators at peer institutions.
Admissions Responsibilities:
- Read and evaluate admissions applications from assigned geographical regions. Apply discretion and independent judgment in deciding which qualified students should be presented to the committee for possible admission.
- Provide information about Harvard College and its admissions process through information sessions or other events on campus or on-line. Travel may be undertaken independently or as joint travel with other institutions.
- Handle communications with prospective students, applicants, parents, secondary school administrators, and the public.
- Conduct interviews of prospective and current applicants.
- Develop and nurture relationships with alumni/ae interviewers.
- May chair an admissions subcommittee and/or serve as a liaison to an athletics team.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with international educational systems and curricula strongly preferred; knowledge of languages other than English helpful.
- Prior experience in both targeted recruitment and application reading for a selective process essential.
- Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to interact with diverse populations and make presentations to large groups.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, as well as strong time management and organizational skills, to meet deadlines
- Problem solving and analytical skills, independent initiative, excellent judgment, and ability to keep information confidential.
- Proficiency with office productivity and collaboration software, as well as business applications, a must.
- Application review is conducted online, sometimes remotely; each reader is expected to have reliable Internet access.
Certificates and Licenses
A valid driver's license is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use for extended periods of time
- Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work nights/weekends and travel as needed.
- Work is typically performed in an office setting, but may be hybrid, as directed by FAS.
- This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (including, but not limited to, CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, NJ, RI, and VT).

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
