Location
 

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.


Job Summary
 

The Senior Interior Designer will provide design support to the KSU campus community and the Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) office. This role will oversee a range of university interior design projects and meet stewardship responsibilities for design excellence, campus standards, appropriateness, safety, and durability. The position involves effective client relations management and collaboration with PDC Construction Project Managers, external design professionals, and KSU stakeholders on interior finish and furniture selection for a variety of project types including classrooms, research laboratories, libraries, offices spaces, recreations, athletics, etc.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides interior design concepts (test fits, furniture, finishes, etc.) for small to mid-sized projects. Manages concurrent interior design projects including furniture and materials selection, layouts, installation, moves and relocations
2. Manages selection, procurement, scheduling, and installation of FF&E on small capital projects
3. Requests and solicits proposals for furniture and minor construction including the submission of requisition, processing invoices and submitting applications for payment
4. Schedules meeting with vendors and manufacturers as needed. Works closely with vendors to determine the best solution to meet the needs of the University and project stakeholders within the designated budget
5. Collaborates with Construction Project Managers to provide interior design solutions for all PDC projects
6. Manages the materials library including meeting with vendors to update and maintain product information. Tracks performance of furniture and finishes for inclusion on future projects-also cost, service, etc. Assists with documenting interior design standards and best practices.


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Design, Architecture, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
NCIDQ professional accreditation or ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire
Current, valid, and unrestricted drivers' license
Required Experience
Five (5) years of interior design related experience
Experience in managing projects from concept to completion


Preferred Qualifications
 

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other 3D modeling (AutoCAD, Revit) and rendering tools
Proven experience with production of interior plans, furniture layouts, and details
Strong understanding of visual communication, typography, color theory and design principles
Direct experience collaborating with architectural firms on higher education building projects
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
 


Proposed Salary
 

The budgeted salary range is $73,160 to $85,000.  Offers are based on relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of ADA accessibility design and building code requirements 
Understands statewide contracts for FF&E. 
Knowledge of furniture sourcing, and vendor resources
Basic knowledge of ADA and sustainability
SKILLS
Possess effective client relations management skills, ability to work with diverse teams of stakeholders and design professionals
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, organization, communication (verbal, written, and graphic), time management, project management and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and ideas
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make good decisions
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Creative Suite programs
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and results oriented.
Strong customer service skills and phone an e-mail etiquette
