Scope of Position  

The Senior HR Consultant is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of HR services to designated leaders, by providing guidance on HR policies and processes, an innovative approach to organizational challenges and the ability to translate department and/or business unit strategy into operating results.  Works closely with the HR Director and areas of support leaders, staff, or faculty to develop, implement, and lead the HR people strategy and agenda that meets the objectives and short-term strategic vision of the area(s) they support.  Serves as a role model for staff, management and faculty across the department and business, consistently representing the standards of service excellence.

Position Summary

Senior HR Consultants are responsible for providing designated leaders with strategic consultation by aligning business objectives with employee and manager needs on cross discipline matters including performance management, succession, learning/talent management, compensation, data analytics and scorecard metrics. Helps leaders effectively utilize core HR programs and processes such as in the Total Rewards and Talent Management areas. Supports designated directors, managers, and supervisors in HR lifecycle activities such as recruiting, onboarding, employee and labor relations, performance management, workforce planning, and terminations. Work is primarily achieved through individual efforts or by participation on functional or project teams. May coordinate, influence, or review the work of others. May be the primary owner on a given program or process. Requires the application of specialized expertise within a profession to achieve results. Emphasizes in-depth knowledge, project management, and influencing skills.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:  Bachelor’s degree in business administration/human resources or related field. PHR/SPHR or other professional certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources.  Understanding of Ohio and Federal employments laws, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish ‘quick’ rapport with all levels of the organization.  Strong consultative style with proven experience supporting multiple areas.  Strong mind-set for continuous improvement and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
