Position Information

The Senior Graphic & Digital Communications Specialist oversees the planning, production, and creation of graphic design and layout for a variety of complex publications, printed collateral, visual media, presentations, web site applications and social media platforms for the UCR School of Medicine. Works as part of a communications team within the Strategic Initiatives Unit. Independently consults with clients to create complex materials for a variety of publications for internal and external audiences. Works with vendors and clients to approve proper use of UCR branding, serving as primary approver. Works with service providers to ensure timely production of printed items. Supports the efforts of the Strategic Initiatives Unit and performs other duties as assigned.

Please Note: Selected candidates invited to interview will be required to present samples of their work as part of the interview process.

The full salary range for this position is $59,000 - $103,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $59,000 up to $85,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, relevant experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Selected candidates will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge of applicable publishing software applications.
Time and project management skills to effectively establish priorities and meet competing deadlines.
Strong skills in collaboration to best meet project goals and objectives of clients.
Ability to manage storage of and to manipulate photo/video assets for digital and print purposes.
Working knowledge of marketing principles.
Strong skills to effectively produce visual materials that meet and satisfy the needs of the client.
Strong skills in interpersonal communications to interact effectively with a variety of clients, support staff and vendors.
Ability to handle small to large multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.
Thorough knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and PhotoShop.


Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of social media platforms and digital content strategy.

Strong skills in originating and maintaining databases for desktop publishing and image storage.

Understanding of the dynamics of printing publications both in house and at the institutional level.

Skills to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences and/or the broader public for both web and printed collateral, while ensuring adherence to the organization's message.

Familiarity with Acquia Cloud Site Factory Management System.
