Position Summary:

The Senior Grants Business Systems Analyst has a key role in supporting the core of the University of Colorado's post-award research-related activities. This position is responsible to provide solutions and address technology problems to meet and enable the business requirements and campus strategies through analyzing, designing, configuring, and testing the PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 Grants Suite (Grants, Contracts, Project Costing, Billing and Receivables). They use their versatility and experience to deliver these solutions from analysis to implementation. This position is tasked with understanding both common and distinct business processes among the University of Colorado’s three campuses and configuring the Grants Suite to meet their needs. 

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Grants IT Services and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff System.

Remote – this role is eligible to work remotely within the United States, however, preference will be given to candidates who are local to the Denver area.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve problems encountered within the PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 Grants Suite, system integrations, and reporting.
  • Ensure Grants ticket resolution process is followed by logging tickets, updating, and presenting current status, and closing tickets with adequate documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with campus, departmental, and core office representatives to understand and detail business requirements, assess delivered functionality for fit and document gaps. Develop functional design specifications and documentation for custom/enhanced functionality. Communicate changes to the system to the Grants Community via status updates.
  • Complete project tasks associated with implementation, upgrade, or development of new application functionality. Translate functional business requirements into design criteria to meet Campus requirements.
  • Inform/advise project managers and key partners about progress and status of Service Requests and Initiatives.
  • Work closely with other Grants team members and UIS technical teams to develop alternative solutions and recommendations to meet business requirements and provide estimates (effort/time) to implement improvements.
  • Develop PS queries and reports to support campuses in handling post award business process.
  • Develop test plans and complete test scripts to ensure that the implemented software functions accurately.
  • Perform regression tests on newly released features, customizations, and integrations to ensure continued alignment to business requirements during upgrades and maintenance.
  • Operate with an increased degree of knowledge and autonomy, bring together and details requirements independently, can handle more sophisticated issues.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Act as a domain expert, transferring knowledge to users, other functional team members and training/support staff.
  • Serve as a backup to other Grants team members during times of vacancy/absence.
  • Assist in producing operational metrics and reports about the Grants service.
  • Participate in the Higher Education community and with other Higher Education institutions to share knowledge and ensure CU is subscribing to industry trends and standard processes.

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $79,000 - $83,000.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications.  You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role.

  •     Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis).
  • Three (3) years’ experience in the following:
    • PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 experience with Project Costing, Grants, Customer Contract, Billing and Receivables.
    • Writing SQL queries using PS Query or developer tools such as TOAD or SQL Developer.
    • Planning and conducting customer-faced meetings that include performing analysis, collecting requirements, crafting functional designs and solution options.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving system issues.
  • End-user support and training experience.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft upgrades and PUM/Selective adoption cycles that include crafting and performing test plans. 
  • Knowledge of public sector business processes, in particular Finance and Grants related business processes such as project accounting, budgeting, general ledger accounting, procurement, role-based security, workflow, or other grants-related processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years’ experience working with PeopleSoft Financials as a functional analyst.
  • Experience in a Higher Education setting.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or Grants application version 9.2 through PUM 45.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft configurations including, BU definitions and Options, and all module configuration components (Setup Financials and Supply Chain>Product Related).
