The Senior Editor supports a range of project-based writing and editorial activities at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC).  These projects include publications, reports, briefs, presentations, and manuscript materials for applied health research projects sponsored by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM).  The Senior Editor will assist GRC staff members with managing and coordinating the workflow for the editing of manuscripts and publications for submission to the Ohio Department of Medicaid and peer-reviewed journals, verifying they adhere to sponsor and journal requirements.

The Senior Editor serves as a project liaison to content providers, including GRC Principal Investigators (PIs), Project Managers, Researchers, and faculty and staff from Ohio’s Academic Medical Centers. An important part of this role is effectively communicating across the organization to garner feedback, gather content, and secure approvals in a timely fashion. It is imperative that the Senior Editor tracks multiple projects and escalates work within appropriate timelines in order to meet deadlines. Efficient and transparent communications skills will be needed to effectively complete projects. The Senior Editor will assist the Director of Communications and Marketing with developing editorial best practices as well as creative strategies and concepts within the university-state partnership.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing this position will work closely with Medical Directors at ODM, the GRC Communications team, and across the organization within its programmatic areas (Health and Health Service Research, Evaluation, Project Management, and Quality Improvement.)

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent is required.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of four years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or two years of relevant experience with a master's degree is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Four to eight years of professional copy editing and/or writing experience preferred

  • Excellent project and process management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with varied constituencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of Digital Accessibility preferred
