Job Description Summary:
Communications and Marketing develops and implements strategy and tactics for showcasing and raising the visibility of the university’s experts, initiatives, and accomplishments. It manages media inquiries and interviews with senior university leadership and produces print and online publications to showcase the university.
The Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a Senior Communications Associate to work closely with the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team.
This position promotes GW through the collection, development, and dissemination of information about the university and its community to multiple internal and external constituencies, including alumni, donors, and other supporters. The role cultivates and engages more than 290,000 GW alumni around the world using a variety of marketing and media initiatives.
The position works with colleagues within DAR and OCM, as well as across the university, to coordinate and develop content for various outreach channels, including a monthly alumni newsletter, digital platforms, events, and special projects. Additional responsibilities may include tracking and responding to inquiries from constituents, preparing reports, and coordinating with communications and marketing colleagues on development and implementation of strategies, tactics, and initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
