The Senior Accounting Specialist is an integral part of the day-to-day operations of the Center for Public Management Finance Team.  This position will perform a diverse range of accounting and clerical duties, including data entry, record maintenance and financial assistance.  This specific position is responsible for accounts payable, travel, and provides customer service support to internal and external customers.

  • Assists with modification to existing accounting systems or in the formation of new systems
  • Ensures financial transactions are correctly recorded in journals, spreadsheets and databases
  • Prepares a variety of financial reports
  • Monitors accounts, gathering statistical data, and maintaining reports and records
  • Gathers and disseminates a wide variety of information about policies and procedures
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of standardized orders, receipts, and payments
  • Assists in preparation of the budget
  • Monitor central email for invoices to be processed and invoice approvals from CPM project staff.
  • Process invoices and perform data entry into PeopleSoft and CPM Internal Accounting System.
  • Reviews travel claims in Concur and performs data entry into CPM Internal Accounting System.
  • Assist CPM staff with travel reimbursement claims.
  • Prepare and submit OU Supplier Request Form for new vendors and tracks onboarding requests as needed.
  • Data entry as needed
  • Coordinates accounting or recordkeeping activities with various departments
  • Maintains records and files used in connect with accounting work
  • Assists supervisor in making sound financial decisions by providing current and accurate financial records upon request and relating pertinent information
  • Performs various duties as needed in order to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Hybrid work schedule if desired after completion of onsite training.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School diploma or GED, AND: 

  • 36 months experience in accounting; bookkeeping

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, ten-key and mail.
  • Customer Service skills
  • Knowledge of standard accounting principles and processes.

Certifications:

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for prolonged periods. Communicate effectively and listens. Engage in repetitive motion. Use of computer and telephone. Environmental: Standard Office Environment

Departmental Preferences:

  • Knowledge of university systems
