Posting Text | The South Dakota Board of Regents is looking to hire a Senior Accountant. This is a full time benefit eligible position that is located in Pierre, SD. The purpose of this position is to ensure accounting operations and transactions follow GAAP, follow Board of Regents and the State of South Dakota agreed upon accounting practices and procedures, and that the financial information is accurately reflected and reported in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the South Dakota Board of Regents. Throughout the year the position will analyze financial data, review financial documents and transactions, examine internal controls, and prepare internal financial reports, consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Regents and State of South Dakota. The position will need to perform complex and technical accounting and financial transactions and analysis needed to complete the CAFR and other associated financial reports. Provide leadership, advocacy and service to the universities in the Regental System and work closely with the Board of Regents Financial Compliance Officer, South Dakota Bureau of Finance and Management (BFM), and Department of Legislative Audit (DLA). Incumbents regularly handle matters of a highly confidential or sensitive nature. Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practice including but not limited to Governmental (Fund) Accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and statements. Three to five years preferred experience as an accountant and experience with accounting principles. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Knowledge of accounting practices and ability to follow a chart of accounts. Experience with computerized accounting programs, Microsoft Excel, Word and Banner desirable. Ability to multitask and work with limited supervision. |
