Emory Law seeks a student-success oriented person for its re-envisioned Academic Advising team.  The Senior Academic Advisor will join a team of professionals working within Academic Engagement and Student Success (AESS).  The Senior Academic Advisor is responsible for providing academic advising to students at Emory Law as their primary source of academic advising and planning.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist students in creating an academic plan and course selection based on interests and experiences. 
  • Assist in law school registration and cross-school class registration. 
  • Provide student support in both academic and personal capacities. 
  • Refer students to appropriate law school and campus resources if necessary. 
  • Monitor academic progress. 
  • Provide appropriate support and problem-solving as the primary point of assistance in accessing institutional resources. 
  • Advises graduate student life groups in coordination with Student Life. 
  • Develop communications and manage a complex customer relations management (CRM) system for students. 
  • Assist, teach, and mentor in Orientation and Assessment programs. 
  • Participate in departmental strategic planning and implementing the strategic plan. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Juris Doctor or Juris Master degree from an ABA-Accredited law school, OR a master's degree and seven years of experience advising law students in the United States. 
  • Experience working with complex databases, CRMs, and student information systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience preparing students for bar exam success.
  • Experience advising international students.
  • Experience working with executive educational programs and mid- to late-career students.

TO APPLY:

  • First round interviews occur via zoom the week of February 5.
  • Final in-person interviews occur the week of February 19.
