Security Systems Analyst


Department:
Administration and Planning | DPS Communication and Central Alarm Center

Reports to Director of Communications & Security Technology. Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of public safety systems. Duties include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, validating, and implementing critical system patches, allocating mass storage space, and troubleshooting/correcting system issues. Interacts with IT systems users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Provides input on policies and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple security systems, operating environments, and related software. Schedules, plans, and oversees system upgrades. Develops functional requirements through interaction with end-users and coordinates with the installation and maintenance and support teams on systematic enhancements or changes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer technology or related field, plus minimum of 2 years experience with computer technical support/training

Technical experience in the implementation of public safety and security systems, particularly in the application of closed-circuit television systems (CCTV), video, CAD, and 9-1-1, LEADS, LPR systems.

Genetec VMS training and certifications.

CCTV system administrative background in setup, operation, and integration of CCTV systems and expertise in software and hardware of analog and digital video cameras, network storage, archive, and set up and integration of associated systems. 

Familiar with Government regulations, secure networks, network architecture.

Experience and skills to assist senior managers in the general management of program installation activities.


Additional Information:

The targeted hiring range for this position is $58,100- $77,450 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
