Job Summary:

External candidates are eligible for a one-time non-base-building recruitment incentive of up to $2500 or 10% of the starting annual salary. Eligibility for 1st payment of the recruitment incentive will be upon hire date.  The second payment of recruitment incentive will be paid after completion of the in-house training program.

 

This position exists to provide service to the campus community and to protect the property and facilities of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. You have the time to cultivate relationships with colleagues in our tight-knit department.  We also value our rapport with the community.  A recent survey shows that the majority of campus constituents support our Police Department , and three-quarters feel safe or very safe here.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Patrolling campus parking lots and the interior and exterior of university facilities and buildings

·      Providing faculty, staff, and students personal escorts to their vehicles after dark; responding to campus emergencies

·      Acting as an on-scene liaison with the Aurora Fire Department

·      Unlocking doors for staff

·      Checking for fire and safety hazards

·      Making initial contact with possible unauthorized persons pending the arrival of a police officer

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:

·      There are no education or experience requirements for entry into positions in this job class.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·      One (1) year of experience in security.

·      Experience working in a customer service-focused position.

·      High School Diploma or GED.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·      Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others.

·      Must be able to speak and comprehend English fluently.

·      Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

·      Basic first aid, CPR, and hazardous materials and chemical weapons knowledge.

·      Basic computer and MS Office proficiency.

·      Ability to monitor surroundings and recognize irregularities.

·      Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly and appropriately under pressure.

·      Ability to understand and enforce laws, policies, protocols, and procedures, Professionalism, leadership skills, and organizational integrity.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range for this position has been established as:

ANNUAL HIRING RANGE:  $37,838 - $39,902

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
